CIQ Services

CIQ services are available on request with prior notice. Mackay has a limited number of Customs Officers to service the seaports of Hay Point, Dalrymple Bay and Mackay Harbour, with additional officers available from Townsville.

Australian Customs Service uses advanced passenger processing through electronic transfer of data. This is available via the Townsville Office of ACS.

AQIS have an office in Mackay and are available with prior notice. Additional staff are available from Townsville and/or Cairns.

All requests for the use of Mackay Airport for international charter services must be through the National Passenger Processing Committee in Canberra

The hours of operation are 07:25 to 21:00 7 days a weeks.

Security Screening

The Department of Infrastructure , Transport Regional Development and Local Governemtn classifies Mackay Airport as a Category 4 Security Airport. However, the airport is operated virtually to a Category 3 Standard.

A sterile lounge is provided at the airport and is equipped with an X-ray unit, two Advanced Technology SENTRIE A T walkthrough units and several hand held detection scanning wands.

The screening service is provided by Qantas Security and operated by
ISS Security.

Mackay Airport Draft Land Use Plan 2010
Public Consultation Phase

As required under the relevant sections of the Airport Assets (Restructuring and Disposal) Act 2008 [Qld] Mackay Airport Pty Ltd (MAPL) has prepared a draft land use plan for Mackay Airport.

The Draft Land Use Plan (LUP) has been prepared as part of the public consultation phase of this review. The Draft LUP is on public display from 8 December 2010 – 18 February 2011 inclusive.

Members of the public are invited to review this LUP and lodge written submissions to be received by MAPL no later than close of business (4:30pm) on Friday 18 February 2011.

Information collected and issues determined through these submissions will be used in the development of the final Mackay Airport Land Use Plan 2010 (LUP2010).

The intention of the Draft LUP

The Draft LUP is intended to facilitate final input from stakeholders and interested parties, into the process of preparing the final LUP2010.

Providing Feedback

A submission is a written statement that explains why you support or oppose what MAPL is proposing.

Official submissions should:

  • be in writing and signed by each person who made the submission;
  • state the name and address of each person who made the submission so MAPL may provide written feedback if appropriate (a contact phone number may also be appropriate to provide feedback);
  • if appropriate, state the specific chapter/s or section/s of the Draft LUP the submission refers to;
  • state what aspects of the Draft LUP are supported or opposed, why and what led to this view; and
  • be received by Mackay Airport Pty Ltd on or before the public consultation period closes, i.e. received no later than close of business (4:30pm) on Friday 18 February 2011.
