Mackay Airport Land Use Plan 2010

As required under Section 33 of the Airport Assets (Restructuring and Disposal) Act 2008 [Qld] Mackay Airport Pty Ltd (MAPL) is reviewing the land use plan for Mackay Airport.

A Statement of Proposals (SOP) has been prepared as part of the public consultation phase of this review. The SOP is on public display for the statutory twenty (20) business days from 17 May - 16 June 2010 inclusive.

Members of the public are invited to review this SOP and lodge written submissions to be received by MAPL no later than close of business on Friday 16 June 2010. Information collected and issues determined through these submissions will be used in the development of the draft Mackay Airport Land Use Plan 2010 (LUP2010) which will also be on public display later in the year.

The SOP is intended to facilitate early input from stakeholders and interested parties, into the process of preparing the LUP2010. Specifically, this SOP:

• establishes a profile of the airport’s operation and context;
• sets out the process by which the LUP2010 will be produced;
• identifies core matters and key issues for consideration in the preparation of the LUP2010;
• identifies suggested policy approaches and measures to address these matters and issues;
• suggests directions that could underpin the development vision, strategic development framework and the desired environmental outcomes in the LUP2010; and
• outlines stakeholder engagement and consultation activities.

A submission is a written statement that explains why you support or oppose what MAPL is proposing. In this instance, a submission could also be used to advise MAPL about other issues you believe need to be considered as part of the new Mackay Airport Land Use Plan 2010 (LUP2010).

Official submissions should:

• be in writing and signed by each person who made the submission;
• state the name and address of each person who made the submission so MAPL may provide written feedback if appropriate (a contact phone number may also be appropriate to provide feedback);
• if appropriate, state the specific chapter/s or section/s of the SOP the submission refers to;
• state what aspects of the project are supported or opposed, why and what led to this view; and
• be received by Mackay Airport Pty Ltd on or before the public consultation period closes, i.e. received no later than close of business on 16 June 2010.
